Synthetic rubber uses petroleum as its raw material and is made of chemical materials. And, what we usually call natural rubber is made from natural rubber latex collected from rubber trees through coagulation and drying processes. In the field of tire production, synthetic rubber can be mixed with natural rubber, and both parties have be their alternatives.
Natural rubber is a natural polymer compound with polyisoprene as its main component. Its molecular formula is (C5H8) n. Its rubber hydrocarbon (polyisoprene) percentage is more than 90%, and it also contains a small amount of protein and fatty acid, sugar and ash, etc. Natural rubber is an elastic solid made of natural rubber latex collected from the Brazilian rubber tree through coagulation and drying processes.
There are many ways to classify natural rubber, which can be classified by form, source, and process. Let us just talk about from one classification, which is in accordance with the process classification. According to the process classification, natural rubber can be divided into four types: ribbed smoked sheet RSS, standard rubber SCR, corrugated sheet rubber, and latex.
Ribbed Smoked Rubber(Sheet) (RSS): This kind of rubber is used in a large amount and has a wide range of applications. The color is yellow and can be divided into 5 grades according to the quality. It is mainly produced in Thailand and India, it is used to produce compound rubber. Common products are tires, cables, and transmission belts.
Standard rubber (SCR): Also known as granular rubber, it has a wide range of applications. According to impurity content, plasticity value, durability, nitrogen content, etc., it can be divided into five levels, 5L, 5, 10, 20, 30. There are many producing countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, India, Vietnam, and China, which are mainly used in tire factories.
Wrinkle rubber: According to different production methods, it is divided into latex wrinkle and miscellaneous wrinkle. The color is divided into white and brown. It is made of waste rubber.
Latex: It is liquid in form and has the characteristics of volatility. It is divided into high amine latex and low amine latex. The country of origin is Thailand, Vietnam, and China. It can be used to make gloves, daily necessities, and footwear.
Natural rubber material can be used to make rain boots, water bags, elastic bands; surgeon gloves, blood transfusions, condoms used in the medical and health industry; various tires used in transportation; conveyor belts, conveyor belts used in industry, acid and alkali resistance gloves; irrigation and drainage hoses and ammonia bags used in agriculture; air sounding balloons for meteorological measurement; sealing and anti-vibration equipment used in scientific experiments; aircraft, tanks, artillery, gas masks used in national defense.
The emerging of synthetic rubber is due to cost reduction and process advancement. With the continuous development of the synthetic rubber industry, its prices are becoming more and more competitive. When the supply of natural rubber is tight or the price rises, many manufacturers will choose to use synthetic rubber. At the same time, because synthetic rubber is a petrochemical product, its price is affected by oil.
Synthetic rubber in all aspects of performance is very good and insulation and high temperature resistance, the disadvantage is that the tensile effect is relatively poor and the environmental pollution is very large. Synthetic rubber is also a derivative of resin, but unlike plastic, synthetic rubber has a very strong deformation recovery rate, which makes the knife marks of synthetic rubber plates better solved.
